not so straightjacket feeling
5 weeks into uni; it feels pretty full on this week, cos i guess my weekend didn't really start after 2 pm tuesday. and strangely, this week was pretty fun!

--

wednesday evening saw my two pointy fingers numbed; i have to practically bend them myself when i want to make a fist.

that's what spray painting for 2 hours does to you.
your pointy fingers get muscles.
your lungs get infiltrated with the paint mist. literally mists up the place.

i never.. knew spray painting would be this hard. i tell you, it takes me more energy to press that nozzle than it is to stick pictures on my wall. my poor fingers. i never knew.. spray painting would be this fun too!

the first bunch of pictures are the other clubs' canvases for the event

haha, strangely fun to do once you are left to do it without eyes around you.
immense help from the girl who needed my help(above) and dansupersecondyearrep.

but that said, i can't believe we're stepping down next week though.
gone will be the chances i get to create flyers, design nametags, shirts, do artsy fartsy stuff like spray painting on canvas(!!); not that i am any fantastic in them, but it's REALLY fun messing around, and see your noob attempts in actual print! the rush of preparation for a food event, the selling of the food..

but along with that, gone will be that ever present politics that comes along with being in a committee, the stress of rushing to meet datelines.

-

wednesday night saw me grabbing popiahs as dinner at a steady flow before young adults(youth service) started, due to the last minute cry for help above. and later in the night saw us cleaning up(haha, uhh, and sitting talking on chairs), so i present to you..

is it a maid?
is it a girl?
                                                         no...

it's a product of melbourne uni, lifegroup leader rohanindian! wheeheee!

-

on another note, i am really starting to enjoy my marketing classes(2 this sem), more than my accounting ones(2 this sem as well) anyways.

oh, so friday morning saw this very rash decision to join this case study event held by P&G. it was pretty fun as we looked at a real life case study about the marketing scheme for a laundry detergent in the Philippines.

it did happen in reality(and successfully, if i may add), and we were given the chance to "play" the role of the marketers; what steps and reasons we chose a particular strategy, with a given budget and time limit. and we were then told what strategy actually took place. my group was verrry off track @_________@

-

friday's weather made me reach a painfully cold and wet realisation that we are actually hitting mid-autumn; the past few days shielded by that extremely hot weather melbourne throws at us. it's time to pile on the layers!

but imagine.. how a hotmocha taste like in a warm cafe looking out at the rain, kicking your pretty(&wet) shoes off.

community service reminder
i got sidetracked while finding advertisements to analyse for my assignment.

i would love to write about these ads, but it's more of a building awareness of what is happening around us/community service advertisement then an ad to promote a product/brand.

so i'll just do it here.

you see, i was searching for these advertisements(tv ads, if i'm not mistaken) which i remember seeing last year here in melbourne. it's the only two that really stuck with me. but i cannot find it anywhere online. google produced very very materialistic results(i'll explain).

the first ad(i remember two series of these ads) shows a woman, focusing on this huge chunky diamond bracelet on her arm. it's a very huge bling, and by the looks of it, very expensive. and then they show the woman's arm WITHOUT the bracelet. and that part of her wrist was really bruised, cut, really hurt. ABUSED.

the second ad shows a woman, now focusing on this huge sunglasses on her face, those big ones that is in fashion now(oh wait, it has moved to aviators, hasn't it? you get my drift), it's very branded, and it looks really expensive as well. and then they show the woman's face WITHOUT the sunnies. and one of her eyes are black. ABUSED.

the point they were trying to get across is pretty simple i feel. that no matter how much material things the guy showers you, if all the material things do is to cover up the abuse, then what is the point of staying on? he says he's sorry, he buys you something really expensive as a way of showing how sorry he is, and then he does it again. how worth it are those expensive bling?

if i'm not mistaken, there may be one more to that series. but i simply cannot find them anywhere.

but they were really powerful ads.

so you see, when i typed out bracelet, diamond, abuse, women, advertisement, sunglasses, all i got were advertisement for diamonds(diamonds are a woman's best friend, how ironic) or sunglasses ads(getting sunnies for your kids are better than a college fund...)

i thought i may have found it here, but it's just other ads which are pretty thought evoking too.

it's scary.
if you want to see one of their ads.

rainy days.
EPM is crazy ass hard. and not being able to do FA tute cos i printed out one week ahead's tute questions. sigh.

-

pasar malam; an event. hahaha, the things that you take for granted back home huh?

preparation; pretty ladies in a row and a cute boy, board writing! :)
hothothothot day. settling nicely on the floor with routine checks to my
assigned stalls(see red shirt; volunteering to help for event)

pretty ladies and their very delicious preparation & result.

i don't back down on my promises. here'r snapshots of SK WONG for an exchange
of a FRIED MANTAU(YUMMMMMMM!!). but then, i was also given their trial fried chicken. thanks MRniceguy(see, no exchange needed). that was pretty much my dinner.  :)

when it poured HEAVILY(pasar malam weii, out comes the umbrellas), this was what i was handling; soyabean & grass jelly. didn't want to risk getting a fever. i think my throat is a bit more funny today tho, but standing in the rain at the end of the night with my hands stretched and that silly grin on my face was fun oops. helping to clean up at the end of the night, i mean.

brother club and sister club working side by side. uhhh, hahaha.

ooooh, move towards the shining light and the aroma!

that's night market for you here. a once a year event(in contrast to every tuesday, wednesday, sunday...) with different kinds of food from the multitudes of countries and uhm, a place to chill out; stand around and talk? hahaha, the thought of chilling in a pasar malam.

rain drizzles, the couch, raven, warmth, soyabean, sandwich, pillow, the good feeling a saturday brings.

may today bring more comfort to those involved in this 1000deg mess.

daniel isn't talking.
i think i've found another spot.
and it has become a place i visit on a weekly basis,
for about one hour,
after my morning class.

in the midst of trying to keep up with all my homework and the hectic lifestyle,
just a little thing i'm trying to embed into my routine to escape the rush.

i miss..
the spur of the (one hour)moment rush,
the addictive clicks of the camera,

the affective enthusiam,
            the damn shy pictures

the giggling, laughter and noise.
the props.

the poses.
the unbelievably unique poses haha.
thought up within the 10 second span.

and i've just realised how we can improve our quality.
haha through my own spur of the moment

BUT who's going to do THE WE LOVE YOU© pose with me now?

i miss you guys , posing aside.

whazza
falling....

..sick.

grr.

weather change is terrible.
there was one day, in the morning it was 16deg, and by afternoon it was 34deg.

grr, indeed.

fantastic load of case studies to go through now, plus the need to sleep early(ier). haha

--

my letter N keeps dislodging itself from the laptop. it gets irritating after a while cos it takes several pushes at the right angle to get it back in.

i wonder whether this accounts as a need to repair? cos N is a very important alphabet, unlike something like.. Q, which by the way, is very firmly lodged in the laptop.

--

the notion of free pizza lunch over no food for lunch is too appealing to resist. but the notion of getting well faster is even more tempting.

you don't say.
friday was gloomy! well, it was in the morning! it made the day feel so blah, you know? like a throw-on-a-shirt-cos-nothing-looks-good-on-you-anyway day. plus, not being able to do tute work GRR. the only one you have a midsem for.

after tute i went for a discussion with vanessa, my group partner in first yr, and now my group partner again! coffee over discussion. very comforting, mocha is! i Love mocha. mochamochamocha. and it's by far the cheapest i have seen! cheapmocha YUM!

and then my day got better! :)

i got unbelievably chirpy after that, because it's THE WEEKENDS. irregardless of the fact that i'll be doing work during, but STILL, the term weekends gives me the happy shivers. haha!

goodness, what a depthless post.

let me compare cheesecakes before i leave.

i used to just look forward to the oreo cheesecake at Secret Recipe's whenever i'm back home, or whenever i pay them a visit. it was just fantastic.

but now when i go back, i never touch the oreo cheesecake anymore. WHY?

WHERE are the oreos?? GRR

and that was before we aided superbaker toh sin in an oreo cheesecake quest.

i don't have a picture of a slice of THE cake right now, but i sure do have the mixing process picture!

p/s: supermanbaker's hands in all the pics!

it's SO oreo filled that you can't even see the yellowness of the CHEESE!
that's the way to go, won't you agree?

so i had to do something yea? i went for dinner with lishan&liqin, and we fell in love with this instead:

if i'm not mistaken, it's called CARAMEL CREAM CHEESE.
and it's breathtakingly delicious. contains almonds too! YUM! try it out, if you may!

how quaint, they created something newmade this cake of the month just in time to replace my lost love for their oreo cheesecake.
just splendid, i tell you.

haha, don't roll your eyes! fall in love with food instead!
okay okay, i'm going!

wonderful weekend to you too!

somewhere over the rainbow/what a wonderful world [norah jones]
my current on replay song; my current feel good song. the one that makes you feel like running through the rain, toss your head back and laugh, breathe in the air, look at the beauty surrounding you, absorb everything that's happening and silently thank God for the wonders and creation in everything around you :)

some days, more than the usual, you just feel that immense joy that's just bubbling from within you; that just spills out to everyone you cross paths with, no particular reason, even when nothing is currently going the way you want it to. when you just can't help but praise God for everything. that sheer joy of being where you are, who you are, and alive :) because at the end of the road, when you strip away everything that seems important now, you are left KNOWING that there is a God that loves so unconditionally; that nothing can go wrong with God on your side, and that's all that matters. you are not alone in all of this.

i can't really explain it properly but,
it's a wonderful feeling, i assure you :)

Somewhere over the rainbow

Way up high
And the dreams that you dream of once in a lullaby

fellow musketeer li qin & i

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dream of
Dreams really do come true

                                                                                                             loved highskoool pals

Someday I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemondrops
High above the chimney top
That's where you'll find me

                                                                                                        crazy giggly girls

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to
Oh why oh why can't I

                                                                                                                  churchies

Well I see trees of green and red roses too
I'll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

                                                                                    moomba and turtle

Well I see skies of blue and
I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

                                                                                                                 shaky hands

The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
and also on the faces of people passing by

                                                                      overlooking genting's drained indoor river

I see friends shaking hands saying
How do you do
They're really saying I, I love you

                                                                                               champion bunch of posers

I hear babies cry and I watch them grow
They'll learn much more then we'll know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
world...

                                                                                                   following freddi's style

Someday I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemondrops
High above the chimney top
That's where you'll find me

                                                                            port dickson picturebeforelunch picture

Oh somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high

                                                                                                            best pal juin & i

And the dreams that you dare to
Why oh why can't I...

can i see that smile?
sometimes it is as simple as having pizza for dinner and watching school of rock with company beside you.

and a cupcake for supper.

painting your thumbnail after finishing tutework.

or sometimes it is the little things that you don't expect;

the surprising compliments on your(first attempt at painting) nails,
the great hair day,
the fabulous nap,
the random text messages.

-

'twas a night not too long ago i was sprawled on the floor with 4 girls in Melbourne, just listening and talking about everything and nothing in particular for hours; then coming home to the internet to be sucked into a chatroom with 3 girls in Malaysia, typing and laughing about another round of everything and nothing in particular for hours.
[keepsake memories]

you can't help but smile to yourself.
just sometimes, ey?
let monday be a great one.

cause i'm thinking it's my song
it's funny how after tuesday, time just zooms by. i mean, mannn, it's already saturday! and i haven't accomplished much!

i had lifegroup on wed night,
i had three really wacked up guys dropping by my place before that to clear up issues with ebay; resulting in too much laughter and misspelt names, distasteful jellybeans from the CPAstall and archie comics.
i went for a career fair that was so packed the line waiting to go in the hall reached the next building.

i had gelati on a belated spur and some girly talk, sitting huddled at the corner of the shop.

ahhh, if anything does it, walk over to your gelati shop.
maybe some watermelon may help too! sweet&cheap.

the weighing scale i found at my place(literally) announced that i lost weight, i'm a bit sceptical to believe it because sometimes weighing scales are a bit screwy, and also the fact that i don't see where i have lost any weight at all. fats still all intact, maybe it's muscle mass. huh? muscles?

i missed today's jogwalk. the consequence of bumming too much, work piles up, you don't get to go on a jogwalk.

last calls for miss saigon! all mothers recommend it, and you know what to do! listen to what your mother says!

-----

before i leave to finish my quota of work(a MUST do cos tute's on monday boo),

staircase picture! i love staircase pictures!
